i’m setting out to explore a question that has become increasingly personal: how can I build a life with more freedom to create?

The search takes me through art, money, work, patronage, and different ways of living — meeting people who have found their own answers, and others who might help make such a life possible.

The Journey

Following the serch.

I’m setting out to meet artists, filmmakers, writers and thinkers — alongside patrons, philanthropists, people who have found different ways to live, and people who make it possible for others to create and live differently.

Through these encounters, I want to explore what gives people the freedom to create, what they choose to devote their lives to, and the role that money, work and support play in making different kinds of lives possible.

Each encounter may open another direction. The film will take shape along the way.

About Michael

Michael Gil Milstein

I’m based in Tel Aviv, where I work in mental health rehabilitation. In recent years, much of my life has been shaped by an ongoing exploration of psychology and spirituality, encounters with art and creative practice, and my own experiences of struggle, pain and the fragility of life.

A growing awareness of how limited our time here is has made certain questions feel increasingly urgent: How do we build lives with more room for creation and expression? How do we spend our time doing things that feel meaningful — to ourselves and to others? And what do we want to leave behind?

This project grows out of those questions.
